The Must Read,Listen & Watch Resources for Event Marketers

It's a no-brainer that constant learning & absorbing new ideas via all senses boosts our creativity and prevents being stuck in your routine. The latter I find especially important for people working in events. With the overwhelming amount of tasks, deadlines, logistics details very often you just want to "get things done". Whereas this approach helps managing events, on a long-term basis it kills creative spirit.

Therefore I try to have at least 15-20 minutes of "content absorption" a day while I commute (not anymore since March 15...) or even do my make up. There is an endless flow of content in all forms out there, but it's important to focus your attention on what really brings value. Therefore I've compiled a list of resources I have bookmarked on my devices and highly advise you to do so as well!

Once you've read and listened enough for the day, it's time to give yourself a break and watch a movie. There is a great deal of movies that can either teach about events or provide you with inspiration for your next project. Here are some of my favorites:

  • Fyre: the greatest party that never happened by Netflix & Fyre Fraud by Hulu - no comments needed here

  • Ocean's 8 - for its setting during Met Gala

  • Ocean's 11,12 & 13 - for showcasing what attention to detail and precise execution means

  • The Wedding Planner - it's the first 2 minutes of the movie about events, the rest is about Matthew McConaughey

  • The Big Short - for capturing perfectly the way business is done at a conference in Las Vegas
